In this informative VIP experience, you'll enjoy two days on the gorgeous Sunshine Coast where you'll learn from some of Australia's foremost authors, marketing professionals and industry experts.

The event is held at Maroochy Waterfront Camp and Conference Centre, 42 David Low Way, Diddillibah. The venue fronts onto the stunning Maroochy River and is a short distance from the major centre of Maroochydore, Sunshine Plaza and the Sunshine Coast Airport. It's easily accessible by car. For those travelling from interstate, flights arrive and depart Sunshine Coast Airport daily. Shuttles, taxis and hire cars can be organised from the airport. Walking tracks all along the waterfront allow for casual morning and afternoon strolls before and after the days' events set against a magnificent, natural backdrop where native animal and birdlife abound.

Package Inclusions

Residential Packages include Single Supplement (private room, no sharing, air-conditioned) cabin at Maroochy Waterfront Camp and Conference Centre on the stunning Sunshine Coast. Budget-style accommodation. Cabins have a double bed, private ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and toaster in your room.

All meals are included in the weekend, that is: Saturday morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, buffet dinner. Sunday breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. The onsite restaurant is licensed if you’d like to purchase alcoholic drinks to accompany your Saturday night dinner.

We also have Day Visitor Packages available where all meals are included, but no accommodation.

There is a pool onsite and nearby walking tracks all along the glorious Maroochy River.

Aleesah Darlison is an internationally published, award-winning author of forty-five books for children and young adults. Aleesah also has a Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Marketing, UNSW). Before becoming an author, she worked in corporate marketing for over a decade. Aleesah founded Greenleaf Press in 2016 when she saw a need for key services and opportunities to be made more readily available to authors, illustrators, businesses and educational institutions.
Annie Grossman trained as a bookseller in Noosa Heads on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast before opening her own store in nearby Peregian Beach. Annie prides herself on being a book detective. With a lifetime of reading and an extraordinary knowledge of the book world there is not a “hard to find” title that Annie can’t locate. Annie's Books on Peregian carries an extensive range of books and holds many author events with local and visiting international authors.
Lizzie Henebery is a qualified and experienced Marketing and Communications Professional. She has a Bachelor of Business and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations.

​Lizzie worked at dtb! Advertising  OMC Connect as Marketing Communications Director before establishing her own agency. She has experience in media relations, marketing strategy, project management and the ever-evolving digital marketing landscape.

Russell Hampson is a man of many talents. He's an author, illustrator, designer, independent publisher and a Toastmasters Expert.

​Russell has been instrumental in the success of business start-ups, book launches, product designs, magazines, newspapers, clothing ranges, cartoons and marketing campaigns. Russell has also set up his own companies and in 2000, he began writing, illustrating, publishing and marketing the Bunyip Tree series of children’s books.

Zoë Sparks is a travel guru, author, guest speaker and business mentor.

Since establishing Spectacular Events in 1998 she has built the company into a multi-award winning travel business.

Recently, Zoë also set up SHINE Business Women, an organisation whose aim is to support, help, inspire, nurture and empower women. Zoë has authored several small business books and is a highly sought after guest speaker and business mentor.
Michelle Worthington is an award- winning author of empowering picture books for children that celebrate diversity. Her goal is to inspire all people to believe in themselves.  Michelle has won awards in multiple fields, published numerous books and has spread the word about literacy across the world.

In 2016, Michelle established Share Your Story, which provides events and services to authors across a variety of platforms.

Manuscript & Marketing Meetings

Manuscript & Marketing Meetings with Aleesah Darlison will be held on Saturday 18 May from 4:15pm - 6:00pm. Each meeting is 15 minutes duration. Times will be allocated prior to the event and meeting times will be advised in the days leading up to the Writing Weekend. You can book into as many assessment meetings as you like. Limit of one manuscript or book marketing plan per 15 minute meeting.

Materials must be submitted prior to the event so Aleesah has time to read, review and prepare reports on your manuscript or marketing plan. Deadline for submissions is 5pm Friday 10 May, 2019.

Submission Guidelines

Marketing Queries & Plans
Submit your marketing questions, or a brief marketing plan, on a neatly typed A4 page with your book title(s), genre, author bio and details of whether you're commercially or self-published.

Novels & Non-Fiction
Format your manuscript with a title page that includes the story title, your name, address, email and mobile number.
Headers on each page should include your story title, your name and your email address.
Please number all pages.
Text should be in Times New Roman 12 pt font (no bold), 1.5 spacing, generous left and right margins, single sided.
Please submit only the first chapter up to 3,000 words in length plus a 500 word (1 page) synopsis.
Fiction or non-fiction extracts are accepted.

Picture Books
Format your manuscript with a title page that includes the story title, your name, address, email and mobile number as well as a word count.
Headers on each page should include your story title, your name and your email address.
Please number all pages.
Text should be in Times New Roman 12 pt font (no bold), 1.5 spacing, generous left and right margins, single sided.
Word limit: 600 words.

Please email your submission to admin@greenleafpress.net no later than 5pm on Friday 10 May, 2019.
 
Aleesah needs sufficient time to read all submissions and prepare feedback for the event. Please don’t miss the submission cut-off.
